August 2024

Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during August, 2024.

2nd Aug: Conversational French

This was our inaugral Conversational French session run by Mariella, a good Friend of The Swan. She is a native French speaker and wants to share her love of the language with others. Attendance was very promising given the holidays and heat, so we expect this to be a real hit with the locals. Get in there quick!

4th Aug: BBC Radio Berkshire

Micky was invited back by Erika North of BBC Radio Berkshire to talk about SwanFest and also the contribution made by the volunteers. He had been on her show previously in early July talking about the nomination for the GBPA.

6th Aug: GBPA update

As we trust you are all aware, The Swan has been shortlisted as a national finalist in the Best Community Pub category of the Great British Pub Awards. As part of the robust process, the head judge paid us an unannounced visit last Saturday and spent 2 hours with Micky, asking plenty of questions and touring the site. They will speak again at the final interview later this month. The result will be announced at the National Awards Ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 17th September - Micky will be there in person and it will be broadcast live at The Swan! Keep a lookout for more details nearer the time.

7th Aug: Windsor Town Funrunners

The inaugral WTF at The Swan was well attended. It went off on an exhilarating 5K, 45min run round the local environs and enjoyed a lovely cold beer on their return. Going forward they will meet every Weds evening at 6.45pm in The Courtyard. All welcome
