November 2025
Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during November, 2025.
1st November: Halloween
3rd November: Clewer Memorial Poppy Project
The shout went out and they answered - our Stitch Gang and Tuesday Social Crochet groups have been working with Clewer and Dedworth Together on their Clewer Memorial Poppy Project. Over 2000 poppies have need crocheted, knitted and, over the last week, sewn onto netting to decorate the war memorial in Clewer Rec. The sight of the creation taking shape in Woody's during the day and The Swan in the evenings has been a sight to behold and we can't wait to see the end result.
Well done Louise Birch and Amy Tisi for driving this.
4th November: Mentioned by our MP
The Swan got a mention in 'The House' this week! Windsor MP Jack Rankin was speaking about the pressure on hospitality businesses at the moment and the importance of supporting our pubs as community spaces. Giving The Swan as a great example of what pubs can do for their local community, he gave a shout out to Micky and many of our clubs and events! A clip from the debate can be found here if you didn't see it.

Hansard transcript is here: "That was evidenced in my most recent Best Pub competition. Over 32 pubs were put forward from across the constituency, and hundreds of my constituents voted. It is only right to give special mention to the winner, The Swan in Clewer village, which is a great example of a community-led pub. I will not have time to talk about everything that makes The Swan special, but it has the Green Room school for special needs pupils, the Windsor cycle hub, a Chatter and Natter to tackle loneliness and social isolation, board games, the Stitch Gang for knitters, and a dog walkers' group. However, the landlord, Mickey Foden-Andrews, whom I have met multiple times, stressed that while The Swan is well loved and used by the whole community, it is feeling all the pressures on our treasured pub industry, including from increased VAT, beer duty, business rates and now the extended producer responsibility tax."
5th November: Bonfire Night
Our popular Community Bonfire Night this year went with a crackle and a sparkle as usual! The firepit was blazing and our guy was chucked on to rapturous cheers! There was mulled cider and chilli to keep everyone warm, although it was an unusually mild night!) with a great back track from the fabulous BackTrack! A great community vibe for children and adults alike – thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy!
7th November: Clewer and Dedworth Together
The Clewer and Dedworth Together Clewer Memorial Poppy Project came to fruition last weekend, with their amazing poppy nets erected around the War Memorial in time for Rev Rosie’s Remembrance Sunday Service and Armistice Day. It will be up for a few more days so if you've yet seen it, do go down and have a look, it truly is a sight to behold.

8th November: Mirella's Community Walk
Mirella's Autumn Community Walk last Saturday was our biggest ever, with around 30 joining the stroll along the river on a mild morning, getting to know each other. Micky's breakfast baps and Lou's Coffee and Walnut cake went down a treat upon their return and many hung around to enjoy a brunch-time at the pub. And entry donations raised an amazing £350 towards the Friends' Renovation Fund! Thanks to all of those who came along and donated so generously.
10th November: Open Forum
Twenty-one supporters of The Swan attended the Open Forum. It exists to allow all supporters of The Swan, as well as other interested members of the wider community, the opportunity to ask questions as well as to receive information. The invite to Open Forums is sent to all subscribers to the weekly newsletter email.
During the evening there were presentations about forthcoming events, the pub frontage, the Chatty Café, the River Watch project, and Windsor Cycle Hub. The evening concluded with questions from the floor.
You can download the Open Forum for 10th November 2025 Minutes in PDF format and read them at your leisure.
12th November: Quiz Night
It was particularly tricky, with many questions focused on recent happenings! Whilst some teams were a little wanting, the regular name-changing Swans, this time called 'Swanstein – Deliver us from Clewer' came out on top, with relative newcomer Steph picking up a pint of beer in the raffle.
20th November: Bingo Night
The bingo was a cracking session, with small and large drinks prizes galore! The Bingo Gods shone particularly on Natasha, with a double house, and Dawn and Colin, who both won in drinks in the main games AND the Top of The Bill cash round - and Colin also picked up a bottle of prosecco donated by Micky! Our final bingo of the year is Thurs 18th Dec - book now as next time, it could be you-hoo!

25th November: 2026 Community Director
As Hollie Harrison completes her two-year term as a Director of Swan Clewer CIC, the Board is delighted to announce that Stuart Robinson will officially join as a Director from 1 January 2026.
Stuart is no stranger to Clewer Village or the Swan. For the past eleven years, he has been a loyal supporter of the pub and the CIC – as a shareholder, an occasional Weekday Warrior, and a familiar face at the bar. His commitment to community spirit runs deep.
Alongside his career in the public sector, Stuart brings a wealth of experience from nearly two decades with the Bracknell Bees Ice Hockey Club, where he held roles including Managing Director, General Manager, and Supporters Club Chair. During this time, he spearheaded successful community, school, and youth outreach programmes, built partnerships with local and national charities, and helped grow a sustainable retail arm.
Stuart's passion for sport doesn't stop at the rink – he is also Treasurer and an Executive Committee member at Virginia Water FC.
Stuart says:
The Swan has always been more than just a pub – it's a hub for friendship, support, and community spirit. I'm thrilled to join the Board and help ensure this special place continues to thrive for years to come.Stuart looks forward to building on Hollie's achievements and strengthening the long-term sustainability of our much-loved home from home.
