December 2025

Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during December, 2025.

1st December: Decorating the Pub

Santa's Elves were in the pub overnight to decorate the place. And what a job they have done! Thanks to the elves: Micky, Lee, Dave, Same and Sean. The place is looking really Christmassy now. Santa's post box is ready to receive letters from the little ones too.

3rd December: Chatty Café's Christmas Party

Twenty-two Chatty Café regulars held their Christmas party in The Swan last week. A jolly chatty time was had by all, who agreed Chef Ed's festive menu was delicious! Chatty Café meets every Friday from 12noon - 1.30pm – why not drop in for 5 mins or longer, and have a natter with our ever-expanding group of chatters, they promise you'll leave with a smile!

Well done to the students of the Green Room College!

6th December: St Andrew's Santa Walk

A great local community event worthy of support to help raise funds to restore the beautiful and historic building in our midst.

9th December: Christmas Candle Painting

Our lovely Steph ran the first of her Christmas Candle Painting workshops – and what a fantastic night was had by all, getting creative whilst enjoying a drink or two and a mince pie!

10th December: Quiz Night

The quiz proved that we are all pretty rubbish at remembering the answers to questions we got wrong the first time around! Nevertheless, Patrick's Posse scooped the main prize and When Two Became Swan enjoyed their Jammie Dodgers again! Steph from Clewer Clogs won the raffle for the second time in a row, picking a Spirit and Mixer. So the cash jackpot increases to £70 for the next quiz.

Winners of the Quiz of 10 Dec 2025 - Patrick's Posse
Winner of the Raffle of 10 Dec 2025 - Stef won a house spirit and mixer

10th December: Windsor Town Funrunners

It doesn't take much for the WTF runners to dress up and go for a run. This was their special Christmas run.

14th December: Christmas Party

Once again Dawn organised a great afternoon for her now traditional Swan Community Christmas Party. Regular customers and volunteers gathered to celebrate another year of achievement, keeping our little pub afloat through difficult financial times. Everyone tucked into Chef Ed's great Festive Menu and enjoyed their gifts the daft Christmas hat raffle! Thanks so much Dawn!

14th December: Community Carols

Thank you to the brilliant Broom Farm Brass and St Andrew's Revd Rosie for an amazing night at our Carols in the Courtyard! At best count there were in the region of 100 people crammed in to singalong with carols and popular Christmas tunes, bringing the church and pub communities together for an amazing night to kick off the festive season! The Bar Team did a brilliant job keeping up with the ever-increasing queue and turning around glasses so we all had a ball!

19th December: Christmas Market

The Friend's Christmas Market went down a storm on the last Friday before Christmas! Thirteen stall holders sold everything from jams, chutneys and honey, to ceramics, jewellery, knitted Christmas figures and potted bulbs. Everybody tucked in to homemade pizza and drank mulled wine like it was going out of fashion!

And the towards the end of the evening we drew the hamper raffle, with many delighted to going home from a great night with more goodies for their Christmas tables!

Across the evening, we raised a whopping £1,700 for the Renovation Fund – thanks so much to all who contributed by volunteering, donating, buying and selling!

20th December: Breakfast with Santa

Santa visited The Swan to see the children and have a little brekkie with them. All the kids got a painting book and a very noisy kazoo... Parents were super pleased!

Please note that Micky has received approval for these pics to be used where needed.

22nd December: The St Andrews' Posada

The St Andrews' Posada

Posada toys at Christmas refer to figures of Mary, Joseph, and the donkey that travel from house to house during Advent, symbolizing their search for lodging (posada means inn), culminating in a church crib on Christmas. These 'toys' (dolls/figures) are hosted by families who welcome them, often with a story, a candle, and a journal for reflections, building community and teaching the nativity story in a hands-on way. It's a popular tradition in Hispanic cultures and adapted by UK churches to create festive, communal Advent activities

22nd December: Voci

Local choral group Voci popped in to give us a great Carol Concert in the bar, and what a treat it was! Their beautiful a capella harmonies brought tears to the eyes, as they worked their way through all our Christmas favourites in such an intimate environment.

25th December: Christmas Day Opening

By 11.45am the queue waiting for the pub to open reached the roundabout and a great cheer went up when Michael opened the door to Christmas Day at The Swan! The bar was heaving - there were extended families catching up, children opening gifts, couples and groups of friends raising a glass in the amazing community vibe! All the time Michael, Dave and Jago did an amazing job managing the queue at the bar so that everyone had a really enjoyable couple of hours before heading home to do their own Christmas Day things!

29th December: Quiz Night

Another great quiz from QLM for our special Monday night 'Twixmas special, although the The Swan Quiz round turned out to be a total misnomer and was very hard indeed! Hetties Heroes just about scrapped through to win, and Taxi Tim bagged the £70 cash jackpot in the raffle! He then donated £20 of that to the Renovation Fund - thanks so much Tim!

Our next Quiz Night is 14th Jan when the raffle jackpot starts building again from £1 for the New Year!

31st December: Hogmanay Party

The Swan community saw in the New Year with a 1950s 'Rockabilly' night, with all the old rock'n'roll favourites playing throughout the evening, courtesy of DJ Micky! Dave and Jago kept the beer and wine flowing steadily, soaked up with some delicious complimentary canapes, served by the lovely Steph.

With all the pub tables booked, there was standing room only as more folk started to arrive, but we still managed to clear a little space to have a boogie, and as the countdown began everyone was on their feet to see in 2026 with a glass of fizz in hand, a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne and New Year's hugs and kisses all round!

And The Swan was transformed into Jack Rabbit Slim's for a few minutes when Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) were dancing.
