October 2025

Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during October, 2025.

4th October: Wellness Hub

The Friends of The Swan joined many others at the opening of the Dr Katie Simpson Wellness Hub at Dedworth Medical Centre on Saturday - as a wonderful collection of amazing community organisations came together to promote better wellbeing.

Ian provided refreshments to all who attended with Mirella and Peter engaging with visitors to The Swan stand, handing out flyers showcasing all of the activities happening at The Swan. The visitors were particularly keen to hear about Chatty Café & Epic Thursday with more than twenty of them signing up to The Swan weekly newsletter, to learn more about the warm welcome you get at The Swan. The Friends of The Swan are delighted to help promote this great local initiative.

5th October: AGM

On Sunday, shareholders of the Swan Clewer CIC gathered to receive a presentation of the 2024 Accounts from Will Calvert who confirmed a small profit had been achieved and that the mortgage had been reduced by the planned payment.

There was an update on the past years events from the General Manager, Micky, and Chair of the Friends of The Swan, Anne, as well as a very interesting presentation from Ash Sheehan, Head of the Green Room College, about how beneficial to the students being at The Swan can be with news of George, a student at the College who had recently been hired as bar staff.

Hollie Harrison announced that she will be standing down as Community Director as she has reached the end of her two year term, and advised she was happy to talk to anyone interested in learning more about the role.

Full minutes and slides from the meeting and details of the appointment process for a new Community Director will be made available on the website over the next week or two.

8th October: Quiz Night

The Quiz was a bit of a nail-biter! The Bar Team only went and came out on top – but of course they are not allowed to win! So Desperados and Clewer Clogs battled it out in a tie-breaker.

The Clewer Clogs won the tie-breaker by the narrowest of margins. And then Ray picked his own ticket out of the raffle pot and walked away with a Spirit and Mixer too!!

24th October: Wear it Pink

Friend of The Swan Louise Birch organised a special coffee morning for Wear it Pink Breast Cancer. There was a great turn out and, in all that pink, the pub looked 'fab-u-lous' darling! Thanks to all who baked and ate cake and of course, to David and Ben for having their heads shaved to raise even more money for such a worthy cause!

The total raised so far is a whopping £1,145.

Left over cake was donated to the Windsor Homeless Project at the end of the morning by our super waitress Paige.
