January 2025
Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during January, 2025.
4th January: Windsor Cycle Hub
The first meeting of the year saw the members of the WCH come out to clear out the festive cobwebs and participate in an excellent Level 1 Guided Ride. The Bike Kitchen was busy too.

8th January: Windsor Town Funrunners
A little snow wasn't going to put off the runners who had a run from The Swan up to the caslte and back. The snow was falling and it was bitterly cold, but the runners all did the run in style ... and quickly!

8th January: Quiz Night
Tonight's winners - team Happy New Year Swan and All! And Georgia won a glass of wine in the raffle!

17th January: Bingo Night
Another packed night of Bingo saw the ladies winning both line and house for the first two games.

However, after the break the gents won both game three, Royden, and the cash game, Richard. Both won line and house. It's worth noting that after five years of trying, Richard has actually won. Not only a line but then the house, and both during the cash round. Drinks on him then!

22nd January: Quiz Night
Relegation Candles (a merger of Relegation Battle and Four Candles) won the quiz. A member of Swan Patrol won the raffle (sorry, we didn't catch your name) after a minor mistook where we had the same number twice. Colin Waddington lost out

24th January: Chatty Café
It was our largest Chatty Café yet! What a fabulous time was had. Same again please!

25th January: Burns Night
Burns Night saw 85 people squeeze into the pub and Coach House to celebrate the Ploughman’s Poet. After the Selkirk Grace, everyone tucked into homemade cullen skink soup, traditional haggis, neeps and tatties and clootie dumpling for desert.

The Address to the Haggis was delivered by the firepit by Euan Nicoll, accompanied by Matthew Buyskes from Windsor Boys School playing the bagpipes. Huge thanks to Matthew for stepping in at short notice for his first solo gig! Other entertainment included a Scottish themed raffle and the toast to the lads and the lassies, given by Richard Allen and Dawn Chojnaki as a hilarious, whistle stop tour through Burns love life!

A great community evening, organised by volunteers, which raised over £2,000 for the Frontage Renovation Fund.

A huge thanks to all the team who put on the Burns Night to raise funds for the renovation of the front of The Swan. Includes Ian, Lou, Leigh, Georgia, Hele, Joan, Dawn, Richard, Anne, our piper Matthew, and also the Swan staff of Dave, Michael and Micky. Through their efforts they raised a significant amount TBD. Fantastic!

26th January: Film Night
A select audience battled the weather to come and enjoy our showing of the timeless classic Cabaret!

29th January: Micky at BBC Radio Berkshire
Micky was invited in to speak to Kirsten O'Brien of BBC Radio Berkshire to talk about The Swan, our history, our events, and why we are successful and how others could learn from us. It's a two part interview on our Media page.

31st January: Charity Coffee Morning
It was our final charity coffee morning for the community's chosen charity - King George VI. Yet another great turnout with the bakers doing another star turn. Over the year we have raise £2185 for the charity whilst having some grate cakes and a real natter.

Special thanks to the Friends of The Swan volunteers, especially Richard, Dawn and Trudy who have been instrumental in the organisation.
