October 2024

Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during October, 2024.

2nd Oct: Windsor Town Funrunners

The runners were out in force again tonight for a fun run about Windsor & Eton. There was a real mix of people and abilities which shows the popularity of this event. They are extending an invite to you to come and join them - all abilities welcome. And there is a beer at the end of it!

5th Oct: Good Beer Guide 2025

We are delighted to announce that The Swan has been included in The Good Beer Guide 2025. This is the UK's best-selling beer & pub guide, the Campaign for Real Ale's most prestigious publication. What's more, this is the fifth consecutive year we have featured in the guide and we are most grateful to local Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead CAMRA members for their continued support.

7th Oct: Harry's Kitchen Takeover

Harry's first Kitchen Takeover on Monday was a joy – with his delicious handmade burger patties and chunky chips, in particular, getting rave reviews! Having started as a GRC student apprentice, it has been great to see Harry moving up through the ranks of kitchen porter, bartender and now Kitchen Takeover chef – I’m sure you will join us in congratulating him and saying we look forward to seeing you in the kitchen again very soon!

9th Oct: Windsor Town Funrunners

The merry band from Windsor Town Funrunners were out for another exhilarating mid-week run. They met in The Courtyard and left at 6.45pm for a wee run about the local envrionemnt. They were back, a lot warmer, and had a rejuvenating pint or two. Why not join them? All abilities welcome.

9th Oct: Quiz Night

This week's Pub Quiz was another tight finish, with not much between all the teams really, and Four X narrowly pipping Patrick's Posse to the top prize after a tie-break. And then, that rare occurrence, Elliott picked his own ticket out in the raffle, walking off with the coveted star prize, A Bag of Crisps!

10th Oct: Swan Elders

GRC welcomed back Nina Hartstone as our Swan Elder this week. An old friend and former parent of GR, she gave a fascinating talk about her career in Film & TV, having worked on some huge films, including Bohemian Rhapsody and Gravity. Nina’s talk was filled with genuine insight and advice for those wanting to pursue a career in the movies. And of course, she brought along her little gold statue to pass around (they weigh a ton!) Thank you, Nina!

17th Oct: Swan Elders

This week our GRC students threw all they had into the last Epic Thursday before half term, with it's fabulous Halloween theme - Rev Rosie really enjoyed her menu choice after her session as our Swan Elder this week!

17th Oct: Bingo

Another packed house at Bingo this week with Sid, Stuart and Sheila winning small drinks and Jennifer, Michael and Steph large drinks at the bar! And in the Top of the Bill cash jackpot round, Rosie picked up £13 for her line and Stuart pipped a few sweating players to the post for the £25 jackpot! Rapidly becoming Windsor's must do night out, Swan Bingo is back on Thurs 21st November at 8pm - don't miss out!

19th Oct: Windsor Cycle Hub

The WCH had two Guided Rides today. The Early Birds caught the rain, while the Level 3ers benefitted from the brighter weather after 11am. Thanks to WhatsApp's tracking feature we managed to meet in Windsor Great Park. Next week we're off to Burnham Beeches at 11am from The Swan.

19th Oct: Karaoke

It was our first Karaoke Saturday and the locals came down and gave it a blast.
