April 2023
Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during April, 2023.
Easter Weekend
Saturday saw an Easter Egg Hunt throughout the pub. On Sunday there was Easter Bonnet making with Louise Birch, one of the volunteers.
The nice weather brought out young and old. The young preferring the table tennis and bonnet making activities, the older ones enjoying the music provided by James Brown. And the bar under the covered area was open too showing off its new design.
12th April - Quiz Night
Well that was one helluva quiz with a three-way tie between JMC, the Desperados and Windsor Accord. To separate them, the tie-break was from the top drawer of intellectually challenging questions: how many glasses had the bar staff broken since a specific date. JMC came out winners and got the £25 bar tab.
The raffle was won by Nigel who won the cash jackpot - unfortunately it was only £10 this week having been won the last time out. As Quiz Lord Martin was on holiday, Micky stepped in as Quiz Master.
20th April - Bingo Night
We saw the Coach House packed for another feast of Bingo. Under the watchful eye of Richard Allen there were many winners, too many to list here but a special shout out to Mary who won the line jackpot in The Big Cash Game. But there is a wee picture with all the winners listed - you know who you are!
26th April - Quiz Night
Another busy night in the pub and The Coach House saw Josh winning the lucky dip and getting a packet of crisps (so the cash prize rolls over to next time). And in The Coach House, The Quinns won the overall Quiz. Last time they won was way back in January 2022 bu before that they quite regular at winning. No play-off this week which saved everybody's heart!
28th April - Coffee Morning
Last Friday of the month and we have a coffee morning. This time it was in aid of Swan Support who really need our support after an oil spill in a pond threatened 20 odd Swans. The community raised £272.54 which we will ensure gets to them ASAP. A huge thanks to the bakers, customers, staff and volunteers for their support.
29th April - Cycle Hub
Spring arrived today for an amazing Windsor Cycle Hub 5th Saturday meeting at The Swan. We did 1-to-1 bike care training, registered loads of bikes (with locking tips too), had a visitor on a Penny Farthing, saw a beautiful old Saracen and did an eBike tryout with Hurrecane. A jam packed day, see for yourself!
Did you know it is our 2nd birthday on the 31st May? Watch out for news of some special activities during the month.
