December 2021
Here is a round-up of the events from The Swan during December, 2021.
2nd Dec: Christmas Decorations
During the day, Micky and the team decorated The Swan ... inside The Bar, our in The Courtyard and in The Coach House too. Some photos to record their wonderful efforts.
Elves decorated the pub
It was said that Micky and the team decorated the pub on Thursday 2nd. BUT we all know the truth! Santa sent in his elves and helpers and it was really them that did it in readiness for his visits on Saturday 11th ad 18th. They did a fantastic job!
3rd Dec: Windsor Living Advent Calendar
One of Windsor's great success stories over the last few years sees its return in 2021. At 6.15pm every night up to Christmas Eve there was a special surprise 15-minute Christmas themed performance at various locations in Windsor and Eton. A different window or door is opened every evening at 6:15pm promptly and a 15-minute performance is given to the audience assembled outside each participating business.
We were absolutely delighted to host another stop of the Windsor Living Advent Calendar, their day three of the tour. At 6.15pm on December 3rd, our School made a 'secret' performance from The Coach House. It was broadcast live on Facebook so we could share with those unable to attend.
We have loaded the video taken from the Facebook broadcast to YouTube. It will play using their technologies. Just click on the picture above to be taken to The Sawn's YouTube Channel. To whet your appetite, here are a couple of snapshots that were posted on our Google Business account.
Lastly for the Living Advent Calendar, this was The Swan's poster for the event.
Our 2021 performance matched our last one in 2019. You can head over to our diary page for that evening.
GR6 Winter Fayre
The School prepared a range of stalls and activities for their Winter Fayre that was held throughout The Swan. Starting at 4.30pm, they had a fun packed agenda. This included:
- Winter Stalls in The Courtyard,
- Arts and Crafts in The School House,
- Santa's Grotto in The Stables,
- a Raffle (£ a ticket, great prizes),
- Festive Food and Drink, and
- Live Music from The Coach House.
This was our poster for the event that was used in our social media.
Have you seen The School's last, and very successful, Winter Fayre? If not, head over to our diary page for the evening.
The students of The School have created a number of posters for the Fayre, with more to come. We present some of them here. Please keep on the look out for them and others in and about The Swan.
8th Dec: Quiz Night
Congratulations to our quiz winners, Simple Minds. First time winners after a tie break in an exciting competition. There is one more opportunity to win before Christmas. Martin will be back again on Wed 22 Dec with some festive brain teasers.
11th Dec: Visit of Santa
Santa and one of his helpers came to The Swan early on Saturday morning and met with lots of children. What was said is a secret between them but we did manage to get one or two photos. Hopefully Santa won't disappear from them!
18th Dec: Santa Visits Again
Santa returned to The Swan and this time brought two helpers with him. He didn't to tire himself out too much before Christmas Eve.
22nd Dec: Christmas Quiz Night
Congratulations to The Seasonal Swans who won the final Swan Quiz of 2021. Just reward for their bravery in sitting outside. Martin will return with his testing array of questions on Wed 12 Jan 2022.
Dec: Santa's Selfies
Santa visited The Swan one night when everyone was in their bed. He collected letters from his postbox, left some replies and checked out our new fire too.
Santa has been coming to The Swan quite a few times during December bringing his welcome cheer. He has met the children, replied to their letters, had his elves decorate the pub, and much more. The images above are optimised for the web and delivery over mobile and fixed telephone networks. If you want a full size, high quality original image, please contact us at info@theswanwindsor.co.uk and we will supply.
31st Dec: New Year's Eve
There was a good turn out of the locals for our Hogmanay party. The Bar was reasonably busy and a lot of people, with the unseasonably warm weather and covid warnings, used the facilities outside in The Courtyard and The Coach House. We had live music - Mark & Sherridan - who played multiple sets throughout the evening.
By eleven o'clock, many were dancing and singing along with hit after hit. The music went on through the bells and there was a 'rendition' of Auld Lang Syne. The traditional kissing and hugging was a bit muted this year with a lot of fist bumping going on instead.
We like to thank both staff and customers alike for taking the time to follow our covid guidelines. We are not aware of a single case being caused as a result of this evening. It clearly shows if people are careful, then we can have fun in this new normality. Thank you!
The poster for the event is presented here, you may recognise it (hopefully!).
