The Coach House

The Jayflex team have continued to make great progress on making The Coach House a safe and exciting venue for use by both Green Room School and Swan activities. We are very lucky to be able to benefit from their skill and generosity.

The lintel over The Coach House doors was replaced with a steel.

Week 28/20: 10th July, 2020

The Coach House

Over the weekend that the AGM was held, a crane was in very early Saturday morning to position the new steel lintel. Very quickly afterwards the carpenters got stuck in and over the next couple of days built the roof framework. It was a huge advancement by the Jayflex team supported by Carter & Co Construction.

And inside you can see that there was a lot of work. The floorboards and many of the joists on the first floor were removed. There was brickword still being completed (around windows), and the pit props removed.

There is opportunity now to have a select number of volunteers back in to chip away at the list of jobs that can be carried out at the moment safely whilst observing social distancing. With a lot to achieve in the coming week volunteers are needed. Please do get in contact.

Week 29/20: 17th July, 2020

The Coach House

The Coach House is really progressing quickly. Last weekend they put the steel lintel in place and the chippies got stuck in to build the roof frame. This week they have continued work on the now watertight roof to get that complete. The first floor has now been replaced allowing for first fix to start. Boy these guys are quick!

Weekday Warriors

The Weekday Warriors have had a mixed week. When it's dry they are up on the scaffolding fitting the soffits and barge boards to The School House and the main building too. When it's wet, they are inside and have started work on the kitchen floor which, almost inevitably, needs to be replaced.

Week 30/20: 24th July, 2020

The Coach House

Work on the Coach House continued to progress swiftly this week with the focus on slating the roof in the dry weather. They have done a fantastic job and it will very soon be complete and ready to move on to internal insulation.

The front of the Coach House has been cleaned up exposing the beautiful brickwork and bringing the old building back to life. It’s all very exciting!

Weekday Warriors

Our team of Weekday Warrior volunteers have been hard at work again.

Alan has been in removing the last ceiling in the stairwell of the pub and Gareth was roped in to help as well.

Paint removal to the windows at the back of the pub is progressing while Tony and Ian continue with the soffits and fascia. At this rate, and weather permitting, it will not be long before the guttering will go up.
