July 2025
Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during July, 2025.
6th July: Flooding
The short but heavy downpour today was enough to flood the pub, doing some significant damage to our PA and computer systems, and knocking out lighting for a while whilst electrics dried out. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused and thanks to all who helped in the moment and afterwards to get the bar up, running and lit again by Monday night! Our PA system is not saveable unfortunately, so please bear with us until we can replace it.

9th July: Quiz Night
Quiz Lord Martin returned in the flesh after a short hiatus at this weeks quiz. Unfortunately, water damage to the PA system meant he had to run like a mad thing between bar and courtyard to deliver his questions to a packed house! But it gave the teams time for a chat amongst themselves between rounds which they all found eased the pressure on the brain from another set of fiendish questions. Clewer Clogs made a welcome return to the winners enclosure, and Colin picked up the £60 Raffle Jackpot after a last minute change of heart on his chosen envelope!

12th July: Uke-oke
We had the most fun packed night last Saturday with another night of Uke-oke with the brilliant Windsor Ukulele Band! The Courtyard was heaving on a balmy summers evening, and the packed house sung their hearts out to their favourite tunes, expertly played by the talented 'Ukes!'. We also had our first chance to try the great Sri Lankan menu from The Jackfruit, our latest kitchen takeover, and boy did they fly out the door!

19th July: Windsor Cycle Hub
The Guided Ride was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. However, it didn't stop Colin with his waders. The Cycle Hub always say 'PREPARE', so he did. LOL

18-19th July: Sixth Birthday
What a fabulous weekend we had celebrating our birthday – who can believe it is 6 years since The Swan was saved from the hands of developers to become THE community pub in Windsor!

On Friday, the sun shone and Micky did some deals on summer-y, celebratory drinks while Girls Record Lounge played the great soundtrack to our afternoon party. FoTS volunteer chefs turned their hands at pizzas (and boy, did they fly out of the kitchen!) and everyone loved the special Swan Birthday Cake and Cupcakes.

Saturday was another day, and from early in the morning the heavens opened! Plan B sprung into action and DJ Dazz set up to play a chilled playlist in the bar rather than from the outdoor stage. Lou’s new homemade burger patties and chunky chips got a big thumbs up and the pizzas continued to be popular!
We had a special Swan Bingo session which captured the imagination of seasoned players and newbies alike ...

... and the Chatty Ladies got the dancing going with gusto!

And then, as if by magic, the rain stopped, the evening sun came out and the Windsor Ukulele Band were able to play into the night to a packed Courtyard. And not to forget, the cutting and sharing of Anne’s fabulous Birthday Cake!

A great couple of days, with a great community vibe - huge thanks go to all our volunteers, staff and you, our loyal customers, for making it a fitting celebration of our little pub. Here’s to another year at The Swan!
23rd July: Quiz Night
Another great Quiz Night with Quiz Lord Martin posing some tricky brainteasers, running between the bar and the Coach House (the PA system is still not fixed), and Lou's pizzas went down a storm to feed ze little grey cells! Hettie's Heroes came out on top this time and Simon picked a house spirit and mixer in the raffle draw.
