February 2024
Here is a round-up of the events at The Swan during February, 2024.
5th February: Warhammer
Apologies for the lack of snaps, but trust us, it was one heck of a night! The gamers were all deep in battle mode, rolling dice, and strategizing their next moves. From epic clashes to nail-biting moments, every minute was filled with tabletop excitement!
9th February: WCH Open Night
A packed Coach House at The Swan in Clewer on Friday night for the Windsor Cycle Hub social/2024 intro session. Thanks to all who came incl. Cllr Mark Wilson. Good to remind everyone that the WCH is simply different types of people who ride bikes, and discuss what help we need to keep contributing in Windsor.
10th February: WCH
If they thought last week's ride was just, but they were thrilled even more people joining them this week! Today's pictures show just just SOME of the visitors, the Cycle Hub had to run THREE groups! Good weather for ducks and cyclists. Great to see the Evotricrew juniors out today - proving that riding a bike is for ALL generations!
12th February: Tidy Up at The Swan
It was so nice to see members from the pub, school and community joining together to get the job done. The upstairs rooms and courtyard are now decluttered and well organised with a full skip to prove it!
A huge thank you to the team involved in a big tidy up at The Swan on Monday.
14th February: Quiz Night
Congratulations to team Four Candles who were worthy winners in the quiz this week. Also congratulations to Ian from team Universally Challenged who had the winning raffle ticket. As Ian did not scoop the cash jackpot it rolls over to the next quiz on Wed 28th Feb. Don't miss out, book your table now.
15th February: Bingo Night
It was a full house at this weeks Bingo in the Coach House. As ever the 'Bingo Gods' favoured the first timers, with Jaia, George, Judy and Lauren all scooping prizes in the main game on their first outing! Fortune also favours the brave as Fiona brought in her table after a sumptious Thai meal and rounded the night off with a win on the Big Cash £1 Golden Ticket round, with Jean taking the ultimate prize of £15! A new call was introduced this week in loving memory of Renee, our Bingo Queen..."All the 2's, 22, here's to you our Renee!" (Renee being born in 1922) The '22 ball appeared in every game which gave us 4 chances to raise our glasses to her, and we will forever more!
16-18th February: Kitchen Takeovers
At the weekend we had two Kitchen Takeovers. Guest Chef Ren was cooking up some fantastic Carribean food on the Friday and Saturday, followed by Louise had her popular Sunday Roasts. Plenty of choice of great pub grub.
23rd February: Coffee Morning
The first fundraising Coffee Morning for our new community charity, the King George VI Day Centre went down a storm last Friday. Sue Dorey, KGVI volunteer and Swan sponsor attended with WOPWA Trustee Kim Dutton, telling us all about the important work of the centre and bring a whopping cake! Thanks to all that came to eat it, over £200 was raised. Next month's coffee morning will be on Fri 22nd March, a week early to avoid Good Friday the following week.
28th February: Quiz Night
Six Swans a Swimming were this week's winners of Micky's Special Quiz after clinching the tiebreaker by guessing closest on how many ants per human there are on the earth (it is over 2million!). Tony Cross won a pint of beer in the raffle, so the cash jackpot rolls over to £30 next time, when Quiz Lord Martin returns!
