Renovation Diary: November 2019
1st November 2019
Due to excessive rains, we had some issues with leaks in the main building. The priority therefore became doing quick repairs and then accelerating the replacement of the soffits, fasicas and guttering. Also some of the broken and missing tiles needed replaced.
In preparation of the contents of the stables moving into the main building (due to some events in December), the floor boards were replaced and floor made good. A lot of re-organisation of the contents was done to allow more to be added.
We also started the tidy-up of the office so that the next steps can take place.

Inside the pub we are continuing with the finishing touches. The building team are finishing off the banquettes in the front alcoves. The first of the Swan themed cushions have arose. And we even have new pictures appearing in the bar.
Painting continued with the soffits, fascias and guttering. A lot has been done but there is a lot more to do. Also we are awating more guttering to come so it will be a while before we are finished painting.
Outside the pub, we had to do a little bit of remedial work on the front wall. It now has some support and will be addressed with a permanent solution soon.
The Green Room School has started to tidy up the outer stables. This has started with the doors and the walls. This will be repainted. The stables will also be emptied and will be used for the Christmas Fayre.

The pre-painted soffits and fascias started to be mounted on the roof. It has taken a lot of work to get to this point. This will allow the addition of the new aluminium guttering in the coming weeks.
Work in the kitchen started. The back wall has already been prepped with boron, and now covered with polythene and insulation material. The ceiling beams were re-inforced and a new stud partition added.
And tons of debris was removed from the dump behind the doors. This has allowed better storage of equipment and materials, as well as better facitlities for the recycling bins.

Work started on the roofs of The Stables, with the street facing side made safe and water tight. Professional roofers carried this out for us.
Clearing work in The Courtyard and The Stables was started. Tons of rubble and waste was removed, along with scrap materials. It created a significant amount of space.
And toilet roll holders were added. Can you spot the deliberate mistake?

Work continued on The Stables to make them water tight and improve the overall appearance. This is to make the stalls safe and look good. There is still much work to be done.
The floor at the foot of the internal stair case was permanently fixed. This took the volunteers a lot of effort to remove the temporary solution and make it good.
Some further work was carried out in the gents toilet. Fixing the last of the fireboard to the small patches that had been left. Also mounting an excellent picture donated by John Symon.
