What’s Coming up?
As everyone knows, the entire world has football fever! England have made it through to the next stage so across our 5 screens we will show the England vs Norway game at 10pm Saturday 11th July. Due to the time of the game and our licensing restrictions, this time around we need to be strictly over 18 from 9.30pm. We are not taking bookings either, this makes it fair to everyone so turn up early, grab your table and see if England has the chops to get through! I will be cooking up some ‘Pub Tapas’ from 5pm to 10pm, sharing style pub baskets and plates so come hungry. Did you know with this game there will also be internal battles behind the bar?! Our newest member of the bar team, Louis, is Norwegian…
Wimbledon has been fantastic this year! The Men’s finals are live at The Pub from 2pm on Sunday 12th July, plenty of Pimms and Strawberries and Cream throughout the day to celebrate. Could our underdog get to the finals?
B.I.N.G.Ohhhh go on then! Our monthly Bingo Night with caller Richard comes back on the 16th July from 7.30pm. With a song and dance move for every number called it tough to try and stay focused while singing route 66 and cat calling number 88!!
Its been hot hasn’t it?! This weather reminds me of Christmas, anyone else?! If you have no idea what I am talking about, we’re celebrating Christmas in July on Saturday 18th July. A full day of Christmas cheer, in the sunshine! Father Christmas is coming to visit on his holidays in his board shorts, we may have a visit from Mr Grinch too. There will be festive delights cooked up on the BBQ by the Accidental Chef Zavvy and not forgetting LIVE MUSIC from The Windsor Ukulele band (3pm) and Sharks in The Water too (7.30pm). You can have a look at our past years of Christmas in July HERE. Its a weird event but well worth the visit!!
Can you believe that The Swan is almost 7 years old! On Sunday 19th its our birthday! A full on Community day has been planned to keep you all entertained. We’re starting the day with a community walk (£5 suggested donation to join to aid the renovation fund) that will hopefully be set off by a local celebrity! Stay tuned for that! Then… when you get back we have an afternoon FULL of live music, food on the BBQ, and of course… Birthday cake! Then at 8pm we all settle down to watch the final for the World Cup… at writing this I have no idea who will be there but we will show it none the less!
Regular Weekly Events
We have over 22 community groups at The Swan, Something for everyone so lets get into what’s coming up shall we!
Every Monday – Chess Club at 7pm. All skill sets welcome. Will is an excellent teach, if not a little competative so he will keep you on your toes!
Game Masters Of Windsor – Warhammer Every Tuesday at 7.30pm. All welcome. Find GameMastersOfWindsor on instagram
Windsor Ukulele Band Rehearsal – Every Tuesday at 7pm. Our resident house band meet every week to touch up the ukes. In the good weather, chances are high that we will get a live performance as the rehearse out in the cowshed. Grab a wine and listen in.
WTF – Windsor Town Funrunners (I need to be careful abbreviating that eh!?) – Every Wednesday at 6.45pm for a 5k or 10k run. A well deserved pint after the run is needed!
Quiz – 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 7.30pm (Next one 22nd July!) – Quiz Lord Martin has something ready to tickle your cerebellum! Book in for the quiz at Pub.manager@theswanwindsor.co.uk
In other news…
The Green Room College have broken up for the year! Another fantastic cohort of students have spent the year learning, building, creating and thriving! They are now off enjoying their summer break (alright for some eh!!?) but fear not… Green Canteen Pizza on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday continues to run through and, as an extra special treat, the students will be with us for Swanfest (14th – 16th August) cooking their Windsor famous pizza for all 3 days of the festival. Join me in wishing all the teachers and students an Exceptional summer break.
I had some lovely news this week, I have been shortlisted for the ‘Diversity Power List’. This list ranks the top 50 of the most profound champions of inclusion, diversity professionals and D&I leaders across the UK. Those who are making a positive difference to the lives of others, creating impact within their industry sector and showcasing outstanding dedication in their respective fields (all their words not mine!). What an honour, the final list will be announced later in the year!
And finally, our volunteers. Have you noticed how BEAUTIFUL our pub garden in?! That’s all down to the dedication of our/your amazing volunteers. Green fingered, wonderful people dedicating their time to keep our pub looking its absolute best. Thank you all for what you do. Do you fancy joining our volunteer squad? Food Offer
Everyday we don’t have a standard food offer, our pie warmer will be on and serving up Sausage rolls, pies and pasties, and for all the old pot noodle fans… we still have some left if the mood takes you!!
Saturday 10th July – Pub Tapas baskets. From 5pm to the England game kick off at 10pm enjoy pub sharing tapas in the way of Chicken Baskets, Loaded Fries and more.
Sunday 11th July – Strawberries and Cream – To celebrate the Men’s Wimbledon Final who fancies Strawberries and Cream? Or how about Scone, cream and Jam (yes that’s the way to serve it!!) or maybe even cucumber Sandwiches? From 12noon – 5pm come and watch the final and sample some truly scrummy food!
Tuesday 14th July – Green Canteen Pizza – 5pm to 8.30pm sample the delights of Italy via Clewer. Fresh Pizza at its finest… an your support assists our students in enterprise and entrepreneurialship so, in advance, thank you.
Thursday 16th and Friday 17th July – Thai Food – What more do I need to say? Its the best Thai food in Windsor. So authentic and truly delicious. 5.30pm – 9pm
Saturday 18th – Christmas in July – Coppas have generously sent in some Turkey Sausages, just intime for Christmas! So, soak up the Christmas Sunshine and wash it down with cold Mulled Wine Sangria while chomping down Chef Zavvy’s Festive Treat. 12noon – 8pm
Sunday 19th July – Our Birthday Party – Chef Zavvy comes back to bring his secret recipe burgers back to the Green Egg! From 12noon – 5pm
