Fancy a Pint for a fiver? How about fresh made Pizza every Tuesday? Want to learn French? Keep reading……
Welcome back to ‘The Blog’. First things first… mixed reviews on the last blogs closing ‘joke’! Ill try to do better this time round! Lets dive into it shall we, we’ve got a busy next couple of weeks ahead of the grand final for the Great British Pub Awards…
So, what are we up to now then I hear you cry?
As we have moved back to cooler weather, the nights drawing in quicker and candles are back on the pub tables, let me update you on our opening times. Everything stays the same except as trade has noticeably dropped on Sundays, we will go back to closing at 8pm on Sundays. That’s it, that’s the only change! So, Monday to Wednesday 3pm – 10pm, Thursday 11am – 10pm (Don’t forget the students run the pub every Thursday during term time from 11am – 2.30pm!), Friday 12noon – 11pm, Saturday 11am – 11pm and Sunday 12noon – 8pm.
Have you ever wanted to learn conversational French? ‘Regarder’ no further! Every Friday Mirella, one of wonderful volunteers, will take you through conversational French from the basics to intermediate level. Open to everyone and no need to book, please just turn up every Friday in the Coach House at 1.30pm.
Have you tried one of the Green Room pizza’s yet? Well now you have no excuse! As of September the college are with us EVERY Tuesday from 5.30pm cooking up their now Windsor Famous Pizza. All homemade and cooked in the stone oven in the garden. Please come and support the students enterprise and see what they’ve created. If you don’t have it with a garlic crust…. you have missed out completely! Absolute GAME CHANGER!
Who doesn’t like good priced beer and wine?! Don’t forget that Monday to Wednesday from 5pm – 7pm its HAPPY HOUR behind the bar where everything on draught is £5 a pint (That’s Keg/cask/cider/stout and the Guinness 0 micro draught!) and a bottle of Pinot Grigio is the same as house price for the bottle at £20.50, so…. when you’ve got nothing to do in the colder weather, or even if you do have plans!, come down here. The offer isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
Windsor’s first ever film festival is tomorrow (Saturday 5th Sept) if you haven’t already, go and grab your tickets. We are hosting the event and very proud to do so. Run by local youth film makers, Notice Productions, they are taking over our kitchen too so there will be food available through the day. Click THIS LINK to get through to their ticket page.
We have over 22 community groups at The Swan, Something for everyone so lets get into what’s coming up shall we!
Every Monday – Chess Club at 7pm. All skill sets welcome. Will is an excellent teach, if not a little competative so he will keep you on your toes!
Game Masters Of Windsor – Warhammer Every Tuesday at 7.30pm. All welcome. Find GameMastersOfWindsor on instagram
Windsor Ukulele Band Rehearsal – Every Tuesday at 7pm. Our resident house band meet every week to touch up the ukes. In the good weather, chances are high that we will get a live performance as the rehearse out in the cowshed. Grab a wine and listen in.
WTF – Windsor Town Funrunners (I need to be careful abbreviating that eh!?) – Every Wednesday at 6.45pm for a 5k or 10k run. A well deserved pint after the run is needed!
Quiz – 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 7.30pm – Quiz Lord Martin has something ready to tickle your cerebellum! Book in for the quiz at Pub.manager@theswanwindsor.co.uk
Things to plan for…
Not long now until the finals for the Great British Pub Awards. On the 23rd September I will be up in Leeds with Jess to represent The Swan for the evening. We are up for community pub of the year so, while we are being wined and dined, why don’t you get to the Swan to watch the awards live? We don’t know the timings yet but I imagine it will be 7.30pm as normal. I even have a cheeky glass of prosecco ready for everyone who comes to support as a toast drink! Ill give you more info as we know it. (NB… it would normally be quiz on this evening but has moved to the next Wednesday, 30th Sept)
And last one for this newsletter… Oktoberfest is upon us. September 26th/27th. An absolutely free and non ticketed event, no entry times, no drinking before and then kick out… just a good old fashioned traditional Bavarian Booze up! With a full line up of authentic German Beer (Mertzon, Hefeweizen, Schwarzbier and of course Rothaus Pils), Bavarian food served up by yours truly and live music all weekend long. Live music on Saturday 26th will be Penny Brass at 3pm and Sharks in the water at 7.30pm… Sharks as you know it but with a twist! and Sunday is the Windsor Ukulele Band. A fab weekend so get the dates in your diary and we will see you there.
Sorry if I offend anyone here but I’m about to use the ‘C’ word…. Christmas!! Its not far off is it?! There is so much coming up over December. Check the photo below to see what’s coming up. More to come on this!!

Buts that’s all I’ve got for you! Loads happening, loads still to come. Can I redeem myself with the joke…?
I went to the watch shop the other day, I said to the man behind the counter ‘Can I have a watch please?’ he replied ‘Analog?’, I said’ No thanks, just the watch!’
See you around the pub
Micky xx
