Events Diary: WCH Launch

We are pleased to host the new Windsor Cycle Hub here at The Swan. This is an exciting charitable venture aimed at growing cycling within Windsor. Learn more about the Windsor Cycle Hub on our page where you can also visit their own website.

The Assembly

The launch event started on a very sunny bank holiday Sunday at midday. A treasure Hunt and guided tours left The Swan an hour or so later winding their way through Windsor and surrounds. The organisation had to be spot on to achieve this.

Activities

The team had organised a range of activities to celebrate the launch of the WCH. This inlcuded rides, sales, raffles and the chance to try out static bikes too. And if people got thirsty, they could always try out a beer from The Bar.

Scavenger Hunt: for the kids there was a scavenger hunt aroundthe Windsor & Eton area. Cunningly devised, it exercised the kids both physically and mentally. There were prizes at the end for the most successful.

Guide Ride 1, The Jubilee River: Nicky Frobisher hosted a group that went up the river to the Dorney Rowing Lake and then back down the Jubille River. Total distance was 14km with a massive 8 meters in height variance - yes, it is a flood plain! Being so sunny, hydration was important.

Guided Ride 2, The Windsor Great Park: for intermediaries there was a longer ride to Old Windsor and the beautiful Great Park. This was histed by David Bonney who led the riders through the 25-30km route. A breeze for some of the riders!

The Sales Table

There was a sales table to allow the purchase of cycling accessories. Also importantly, people could get raffle tickets to win some fantastic prizes.

Dr Bike

There was also the possibility to have your bike looked at by some of the specialists that were on site at The Swan. This will become part of the regular feature of the Saturday gatherings.

Supporters

Some of the organisers, supporters and backers of the Windsor Cycle Hub were caught out in the open so some quick photos were taken. Please feel free to ask them about the WCH and perhaps join them on one of the Saturday jaunts.
